Turbotax For MAC – Operating System Requirements

As a computer repair technician, you know when tax season rolls around. I have received quite a few Intuit Turbotax help requests. A common theme I have noticed is that Intuit Turbotax endusers try to install this software on an Apple Macintosh computer and are abrubtly stopped.

What many of these users do not know is that Intuit Turbotax has specific requirements when it comes to what Apple Macintosh operating system this software maker supports. Turbotax for MAC tax year two thousand seventeen requires Apple Macintosh operating system version 10.11 which is El Capitan or newer. On the surface this may seem like an easy upgrade.

However, Apple corporation has required an Apple identification in order to upgrade your Apple Macintosh operating system, for quite sometime now. Many Apple Macintosh users do not even know their Apple identification password. Also, amazingly enough to me many Apple Macintosh users do not even know their Apple Macintosh password.

I downloaded the Intuit Turbotax version two thousand seventeen onto a computer. For whatever reason I could not open it. The software says there was a problem.

I updated my computer. It also says I may have to re download it but do not know how.

This individual was using an Apple Macbook Professional. This Apple Macbook had Apple Macintosh operating system version 10.10.5 installed which is also known as Yosemite. If you do not know what version of Apple Macintosh operating system is installed, you can click on the top menu, then select the Apple icon on that top left menu.

Then you will want to choose “About this MAC”. My other customers had to upgrade to El Capitan which is Apple Macintosh operating system version 10.11 before they could use Intiut Turbotax two thousand seventeen. You would use the Apple Store, in order to upgrade your Apple Macintosh computer.

Second, you will need to know your Apple Macintosh administrator password. You will need to log in to the Apple Store with your Apple identification.
