Another information technology problemo in the world order. This time I received the following request from a customer quoted verbatim below.
I need to update my computer from a 10.9.5 to a minimum of a 10.10, how can I do that without losing my files?
This individual had an Apple Macbook professional computer with Macintosh Mavericks operating sytstem installed. They were trying to connect their new printer, a Canon TS5100 to their Apple Macintosh computer. This install would not get past the set up stage, after loading the Canon installation compact disc read only memory.
Canon recommended upgrading Apple Macintosh operating system 10.9.5 Mavericks to at least MAC OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Below is my response with some instructions. Usually, upgrading your Apple Macintosh operating system does not affect your personal files. However, you can back up your data manually to an external hard drive or universal serial bus flash drive.
Also, you can create an Apple Macintosh operating system time machine backup of your computer. You can upgrade your Macintosh computer with operating system 10.9.5 Mavericks by going into the Apple Store. You will need to download Yosemite operating system from the Apple store.
Once that download finishes, you will be prompted to install or need to double click the download. You will need your Apple IDentification password in order to enter the Apple store. Also, you will need your Apple Macintosh computer operating system administrator password.
Without either your Apple identification password or your Apple Macintosh password, you will not be able to complete the upgrade. You may have to upgrade to Apple Macintosh operating system 10.11 El Capitan or Macintosh operating system 10.13 High Sierra instead. You will want to follow the same steps.
Once you enter in your correct Apple Macintosh computer operating system administrator password, you will continue on with the prompts. You will choose the destination hard drive. Finally, you will click on “Restart”.
Your Apple Macintosh computer will reboot and upgrade from Apple Macintosh operating system 10.9.5 to Apple Macintosh operating system 10.10. Congratulations, you have upgraded the operating system on your Apple Macintosh computer. If you are having problems finding 10.10 Yosemite operating system, there is a search tool within the Apple Store, in the upper right hand corner.
You just type in Apple Macintosh operating system Yosemite or Apple Macintosh operatin system 10.10 and hit your enter key. If you cannot find a download for Apple Yosemite operating system, then you can search for El Capitan 10.11 or High Sierra 10.13 instead. Once you successfully upgrade your Apple Macintosh computer to a newer operating system, then you will be able to reinstall that operating system upgrade with the Apple Store.
You can click on the “Purchases” tab in the Apple Store and any operating system you downloaded and installed should be listed. You would just click on “Download” and follow the prompts to install that Apple Macintosh operating system again.

Oh traveler putter Toa SDS our own cone

Enoch appears calm in this video I’m
0:00:08.760,0:00:13.860
going to discuss upgrading from Mac OS
0:00:11.550,0:00:18.510
10.9 dot 5 which is known as Mavericks
0:00:13.860,0:00:21.320
to Mac OS 10 dot 10 which is known as
0:00:18.510,0:00:25.199
Yosemite so I had a customer that
0:00:21.320,0:00:27.300
requested help with upgrading because of
0:00:25.199,0:00:28.800
a printer issue they were installing a
0:00:27.300,0:00:32.099
new printer so I’ll cut to the chase and
0:00:28.800,0:00:34.530
I will read verbatim their request I
0:00:32.099,0:00:37.649
need to update my computer from a 10.9
0:00:34.530,0:00:42.030
dot 5 which is known as Mavericks to a
0:00:37.649,0:00:44.489
minimum of a 10.10 which is Yosemite how
0:00:42.030,0:00:46.800
can I do that without losing my files it
0:00:44.489,0:00:48.360
turned out that they had a MacBook
0:00:46.800,0:00:53.100
professional that had Mavericks
0:00:48.360,0:00:56.910
installed and when they tried to hook up
0:00:53.100,0:00:59.340
a brand new Canon TS 5100 printer it
0:00:56.910,0:01:02.280
probably aired out and told them that
0:00:59.340,0:01:06.030
they needed to you know upgrade their
0:01:02.280,0:01:09.150
Mac to the newer version or Amaya
0:01:06.030,0:01:10.950
they didn’t give me the exact message or
0:01:09.150,0:01:12.960
air whatnot but I’m thinking it either
0:01:10.950,0:01:15.240
warned that they needed upgrade to a
0:01:12.960,0:01:16.860
newer version of Mac or there it was a
0:01:15.240,0:01:19.860
message saying you got to upgrade to at
0:01:16.860,0:01:27.330
least 10.10 which is Yosemite so here’s
0:01:19.860,0:01:29.759
the instructions it’s pretty pretty easy
0:01:27.330,0:01:34.259
actually upgrading Macintosh operating
0:01:29.759,0:01:36.030
systems to me are pretty easy when
0:01:34.259,0:01:41.420
comparing to upgrading Windows operating
0:01:36.030,0:01:44.130
system Linux plan 9 UNIX pretty easy
0:01:41.420,0:01:46.259
what you do is you’re going to have to
0:01:44.130,0:01:47.579
have two pieces of information you’re
0:01:46.259,0:01:50.490
going to have to have your Apple ID
0:01:47.579,0:01:52.770
password and your Mac administrator
0:01:50.490,0:01:56.100
password if you do not have either one
0:01:52.770,0:01:59.369
you’re fucked unless you can borrow
0:01:56.100,0:02:02.310
somebody’s Apple ID and their password
0:01:59.369,0:02:05.189
and I’m not gonna digress and talk about
0:02:02.310,0:02:07.469
how you might be able to blank your
0:02:05.189,0:02:11.099
password or reset your password on a Mac
0:02:07.469,0:02:12.390
because it is based upon UNIX BSD I’m
0:02:11.099,0:02:13.380
not going to talk about that in this
0:02:12.390,0:02:16.170
video
0:02:13.380,0:02:19.470
showing you quick instructions on how to
0:02:16.170,0:02:22.220
upgrade your Mac operating system now
0:02:19.470,0:02:24.720
you could use these as basis points for
0:02:22.220,0:02:26.910
upgrading from pretty much any version
0:02:24.720,0:02:31.110
of Mac to any other version but let’s
0:02:26.910,0:02:34.260
just stick to Mavericks to Yosemite so
0:02:31.110,0:02:37.830
you would open the Apple Store which
0:02:34.260,0:02:40.650
there’s a a it’s like it’s the shape of
0:02:37.830,0:02:43.080
the letter A down in the dock with a
0:02:40.650,0:02:44.310
halo will click on the Apple Store get
0:02:43.080,0:02:46.050
into the Apple Store you’re going to
0:02:44.310,0:02:48.870
need to log in to the Apple Store with
0:02:46.050,0:02:51.090
your Apple ID because Apple requires
0:02:48.870,0:02:54.630
that you use an Apple ID in order to
0:02:51.090,0:02:57.600
update your Macintosh and also upgrade
0:02:54.630,0:03:00.630
the operating system so every time you
0:02:57.600,0:03:02.700
go from like 10.9 to 10.10 that’s
0:03:00.630,0:03:07.320
technically an operating system upgrade
0:03:02.700,0:03:09.110
and it’s a pretty major upgrade once
0:03:07.320,0:03:12.000
you’re logged in to the Apple Store
0:03:09.110,0:03:14.490
there’s different ways that you can find
0:03:12.000,0:03:17.880
an upgrade sometimes on the feature tab
0:03:14.490,0:03:19.560
which i think by default Apple Store
0:03:17.880,0:03:21.960
opens the featured tab and there’ll be a
0:03:19.560,0:03:25.110
banner and it’ll advertise free right
0:03:21.960,0:03:28.110
now they sometimes advertise High Sierra
0:03:25.110,0:03:30.570
as a free upgrade you’ll just click on a
0:03:28.110,0:03:35.610
free upgrade or download now or whatever
0:03:30.570,0:03:38.100
if you cannot find in this case Yosemite
0:03:35.610,0:03:39.480
there won’t be a banner because there I
0:03:38.100,0:03:42.930
don’t think Apple is advertising
0:03:39.480,0:03:44.550
upgrading to Yosemite anymore there is a
0:03:42.930,0:03:46.770
search tool in the upper right hand
0:03:44.550,0:03:50.400
corner in the Apple Store there’s a
0:03:46.770,0:03:51.810
search box you can type in Mac OS 10 dot
0:03:50.400,0:03:54.200
10 and you should be able to find the
0:03:51.810,0:03:58.950
download link or you could type in
0:03:54.200,0:04:02.820
Yosemite and and find the download link
0:03:58.950,0:04:06.209
now if you are not able to upgrade from
0:04:02.820,0:04:09.030
Mavericks which is 10.9 dot X with what
0:04:06.209,0:04:11.430
the latest was ten dot 9.5 anything 10.9
0:04:09.030,0:04:13.590
is kind of sitter Mavericks if you
0:04:11.430,0:04:17.880
cannot upgrade Mavericks to Yosemite
0:04:13.590,0:04:19.890
which is anything 10.10 and then that
0:04:17.880,0:04:22.350
you know anything after that you might
0:04:19.890,0:04:23.490
have to upgrade to El Capitan or you
0:04:22.350,0:04:25.320
might even have to upgrade to High
0:04:23.490,0:04:26.700
Sierra and then it depends on your heart
0:04:25.320,0:04:27.120
or I’m not going to digress about the
0:04:26.700,0:04:29.040
hardware
0:04:27.120,0:04:30.810
what I could do is I could go back and I
0:04:29.040,0:04:34.919
could include the hardware requirements
0:04:30.810,0:04:37.919
for Yosemite but most individuals that I
0:04:34.919,0:04:40.050
support Mac that they that’s an older
0:04:37.919,0:04:42.870
operating system already most people
0:04:40.050,0:04:44.370
have a Mac that supports Yosemite so
0:04:42.870,0:04:46.550
most times I don’t have to worry about
0:04:44.370,0:04:52.830
that but I might include it anyways I
0:04:46.550,0:04:58.260
did link to the Mac OS 10 dot 10 up up
0:04:52.830,0:05:00.260
date page and click on the link in the
0:04:58.260,0:05:02.760
description box of this video down below
0:05:00.260,0:05:06.389
so that you can read my instructions on
0:05:02.760,0:05:10.770
my website in a computer’s comm so you
0:05:06.389,0:05:14.370
found the download once the download
0:05:10.770,0:05:15.000
completes it Yosemite off the top of my
0:05:14.370,0:05:17.820
head
0:05:15.000,0:05:20.669
I think it’s three gigabytes but I could
0:05:17.820,0:05:22.919
be wrong it’s somewhere around there two
0:05:20.669,0:05:25.110
or three gigabytes what whatever it’s a
0:05:22.919,0:05:28.979
pretty large download once it finishes
0:05:25.110,0:05:31.440
downloading it will probably open up the
0:05:28.979,0:05:33.120
install window if it does not you want
0:05:31.440,0:05:35.300
to go to your downloads folder on your
0:05:33.120,0:05:38.070
Mac and then you’ll just double click
0:05:35.300,0:05:39.810
Yosemite or El Capitan or High Sierra
0:05:38.070,0:05:42.389
but a lot of times it kicks it off for
0:05:39.810,0:05:46.979
you this is where you’re going to have
0:05:42.389,0:05:50.130
to know your Macintosh password I it
0:05:46.979,0:05:53.190
defies all logic to me I don’t know why
0:05:50.130,0:05:55.169
so many Mac users have a problem number
0:05:53.190,0:05:57.650
one remembering their Apple ID password
0:05:55.169,0:05:59.699
number two remembering their
0:05:57.650,0:06:03.979
administrator password to me there are
0:05:59.699,0:06:06.990
no excuses this is those passwords are
0:06:03.979,0:06:10.080
it’s not like some obscure website that
0:06:06.990,0:06:12.330
you browse once a month and you forget
0:06:10.080,0:06:15.479
the password I understand that when it
0:06:12.330,0:06:19.919
comes to a password for an account that
0:06:15.479,0:06:22.800
you use every day I don’t get it you
0:06:19.919,0:06:25.680
have to know both passwords you will not
0:06:22.800,0:06:27.780
be able to proceed if you do not know
0:06:25.680,0:06:30.270
your Apple ID password you can borrow
0:06:27.780,0:06:33.050
somebody else’s on this third-party
0:06:30.270,0:06:40.480
website that I will never name on a
0:06:33.050,0:06:42.880
video I offer to use my own Apple ID
0:06:40.480,0:06:44.340
to upgrade customers in it and I’ve used
0:06:42.880,0:06:47.620
it more than once
0:06:44.340,0:06:50.740
I’m willing to Lee you know use my own I
0:06:47.620,0:06:52.510
know what I’m doing I just go back after
0:06:50.740,0:06:54.130
the install and I make sure that I log
0:06:52.510,0:06:56.620
out of the Apple store I make sure that
0:06:54.130,0:06:58.870
the customer logs me out if they’re if
0:06:56.620,0:07:00.730
they’re hesitant I remotely connect into
0:06:58.870,0:07:02.980
their computer I go to the Apple store
0:07:00.730,0:07:04.860
and I physically log myself out because
0:07:02.980,0:07:07.450
I don’t want my Apple ID on their
0:07:04.860,0:07:10.030
computer on their computer but I’m
0:07:07.450,0:07:11.650
willing to offer the use of my Apple ID
0:07:10.030,0:07:15.970
I don’t have to do that but I do do that
0:07:11.650,0:07:19.780
so well my point is that I don’t know of
0:07:15.970,0:07:21.520
any I don’t read Apple’s fucking legal
0:07:19.780,0:07:23.620
garbage I’m not aware of any
0:07:21.520,0:07:25.660
stipulations where they say no you can’t
0:07:23.620,0:07:28.590
use somebody else’s Apple ID you could
0:07:25.660,0:07:31.270
you know your friends mistress
0:07:28.590,0:07:34.360
co-workers somebody that’s willing to
0:07:31.270,0:07:36.340
you know offer it you could also try to
0:07:34.360,0:07:38.260
open another Apple ID but that can take
0:07:36.340,0:07:39.400
a little while I don’t I don’t I could
0:07:38.260,0:07:42.070
be wrong but I don’t think you get an
0:07:39.400,0:07:43.630
Apple ID working right away and then I
0:07:42.070,0:07:46.240
think you have to attach a credit card
0:07:43.630,0:07:48.250
to it but when it comes to your
0:07:46.240,0:07:51.820
administrator password you have to know
0:07:48.250,0:07:53.620
it you just no excuses in my opinion
0:07:51.820,0:07:56.440
with the Mac administrator password
0:07:53.620,0:07:58.830
because you’re using that Mac what every
0:07:56.440,0:08:01.060
day or I just don’t understand how you
0:07:58.830,0:08:04.990
wouldn’t know your Mac password that’s
0:08:01.060,0:08:06.370
just defies all logic in my brain so
0:08:04.990,0:08:08.140
those are two very important pieces of
0:08:06.370,0:08:09.310
information so the download complete and
0:08:08.140,0:08:11.380
then the first thing that’s going to ask
0:08:09.310,0:08:13.330
once you either double-click the
0:08:11.380,0:08:15.870
download or it takes you to the install
0:08:13.330,0:08:18.220
screen is it’s going to ask for your
0:08:15.870,0:08:21.400
Macintosh administrative password type
0:08:18.220,0:08:23.290
it in if it’s wrong it’ll tell you if
0:08:21.400,0:08:26.160
it’s correct it’ll accept it and then
0:08:23.290,0:08:28.600
it’ll move on to the next stage which is
0:08:26.160,0:08:29.800
you know you’ll just follow the prompts
0:08:28.600,0:08:31.630
you’re gonna have to pick the
0:08:29.800,0:08:32.919
destination hard drive if you only have
0:08:31.630,0:08:34.210
one hard drive on your Mac you don’t
0:08:32.919,0:08:37.300
really need to worry because you’re only
0:08:34.210,0:08:38.620
gonna have one option you just I think I
0:08:37.300,0:08:40.030
don’t think you can even select it
0:08:38.620,0:08:41.979
because there’s only one hard drive if
0:08:40.030,0:08:43.720
you had more than one hard drive you
0:08:41.979,0:08:47.110
want to make sure you select the correct
0:08:43.720,0:08:50.080
destination hard drive you know I’m
0:08:47.110,0:08:53.380
saying to upgrade then you click Next
0:08:50.080,0:08:54.250
and then eventually you’ll get to the
0:08:53.380,0:08:57.820
restart button
0:08:54.250,0:08:59.560
I would highly recommend I don’t like
0:08:57.820,0:09:02.080
the word recommend anymore I think it’s
0:08:59.560,0:09:04.060
very productive for you to close all
0:09:02.080,0:09:06.490
applications before you click on restart
0:09:04.060,0:09:09.670
because I’ve noticed with my years of
0:09:06.490,0:09:13.260
experience upgrading Linux Mac windows
0:09:09.670,0:09:16.420
etc that a lot of times when you leave
0:09:13.260,0:09:18.970
applications open during a operating
0:09:16.420,0:09:21.070
system upgrade or even updates even Mac
0:09:18.970,0:09:24.430
updates Linux updates windows updates
0:09:21.070,0:09:25.960
that sometimes it’ll it’ll fuck up those
0:09:24.430,0:09:28.090
applications that were open or it’ll
0:09:25.960,0:09:29.230
cause a problem during the upgrade so I
0:09:28.090,0:09:30.940
think it’s very productive that you
0:09:29.230,0:09:33.400
close everything that you can think of
0:09:30.940,0:09:36.220
go to your dock and make sure nothing is
0:09:33.400,0:09:39.520
open your email close it web browser
0:09:36.220,0:09:41.380
close it close all the tabs just quit if
0:09:39.520,0:09:44.980
you even if you have to go up to the
0:09:41.380,0:09:46.090
Apple menu the top menu and then select
0:09:44.980,0:09:50.280
quit quit everything
0:09:46.090,0:09:53.080
Skype quit just quit it iTunes quit then
0:09:50.280,0:09:56.620
you’re gonna hit the restart button and
0:09:53.080,0:09:58.780
the Macintosh will reboot it’ll restart
0:09:56.620,0:10:00.430
and then that’s when it upgrades now it
0:09:58.780,0:10:01.930
depends on the heart your hardware I
0:10:00.430,0:10:04.839
can’t tell you how long it’s gonna take
0:10:01.930,0:10:08.620
I get asked that question a lot of times
0:10:04.839,0:10:12.460
and I never guarantee anything because
0:10:08.620,0:10:15.640
computers are very volatile and I have
0:10:12.460,0:10:17.920
my own theory of relativity most when it
0:10:15.640,0:10:23.440
comes to information technology most
0:10:17.920,0:10:25.870
times it’s relative it has a progress
0:10:23.440,0:10:28.930
indicator it’ll tell you that’s where
0:10:25.870,0:10:31.450
the operating system gets upgraded when
0:10:28.930,0:10:33.370
you restart because it’s a file system
0:10:31.450,0:10:35.800
the file system was mounted it has to
0:10:33.370,0:10:39.070
dismount and then the Mac has to restart
0:10:35.800,0:10:41.890
and then that’s when the files the new
0:10:39.070,0:10:43.630
files are you know installed and the
0:10:41.890,0:10:44.830
operating system gets upgraded it could
0:10:43.630,0:10:46.270
I don’t know half an hour an hour
0:10:44.830,0:10:48.910
whatever it depends on the speed of your
0:10:46.270,0:10:50.920
Mac depends on how much memory you have
0:10:48.910,0:10:52.900
it just really depends on eventually
0:10:50.920,0:10:55.000
it’ll boot back up into either your
0:10:52.900,0:10:56.890
login prompt or I’ll just log you in to
0:10:55.000,0:10:57.550
your desktop if you have it configured
0:10:56.890,0:11:01.990
that way
0:10:57.550,0:11:03.959
and that should be it hopefully you
0:11:01.990,0:11:06.730
don’t have any problems but Macintosh
0:11:03.959,0:11:07.690
upgrades are not perfect I had one
0:11:06.730,0:11:09.910
recent customer
0:11:07.690,0:11:12.730
her email quit working you know what I
0:11:09.910,0:11:14.200
need to write that blog post and I need
0:11:12.730,0:11:17.140
to make that video because that’s a gold
0:11:14.200,0:11:18.520
tip it was a quick easy fix and I’m not
0:11:17.140,0:11:20.080
gonna tell you what it is now because
0:11:18.520,0:11:21.610
that’s you know you’re gonna have to
0:11:20.080,0:11:24.250
find out you’re gonna have to look for
0:11:21.610,0:11:29.980
my video I should make that video now
0:11:24.250,0:11:34.270
here’s a couple of tips I’m gonna say my
0:11:29.980,0:11:38.020
gold tip for last I already gave you a
0:11:34.270,0:11:41.980
couple of tips if you cannot find where
0:11:38.020,0:11:43.510
you know to upgrade your Mac if you
0:11:41.980,0:11:45.190
don’t if you want to save time just go
0:11:43.510,0:11:47.830
to the search box and type in which
0:11:45.190,0:11:52.150
version of Mac you want to upgrade to on
0:11:47.830,0:11:53.710
this upgrade it you may not be able to
0:11:52.150,0:11:55.480
upgrade to you cemani but you might be
0:11:53.710,0:11:58.930
able to upgrade to El Capitan
0:11:55.480,0:12:02.080
you may now with certain Macintosh’s it
0:11:58.930,0:12:04.090
depends on the hardware you may not be
0:12:02.080,0:12:07.510
able to upgrade directly from let’s say
0:12:04.090,0:12:09.130
Mavericks to high sierra however what
0:12:07.510,0:12:12.520
you could do is you might be able to
0:12:09.130,0:12:15.400
upgrade it from Mavericks – I would say
0:12:12.520,0:12:18.550
El Capitan which would which would save
0:12:15.400,0:12:22.450
you time so my point is you might have
0:12:18.550,0:12:24.820
to skip so if you’re if you’re wanting
0:12:22.450,0:12:27.250
excuse me to upgrade to I Sierra and it
0:12:24.820,0:12:30.220
tells you you can’t directly try to
0:12:27.250,0:12:32.860
upgrade it to something newer you could
0:12:30.220,0:12:35.200
you know try out Capitan first or
0:12:32.860,0:12:37.540
because if you upgrade to Yosemite
0:12:35.200,0:12:39.820
that’s 10.10 which would be sufficient
0:12:37.540,0:12:42.730
for this customer the kit their new
0:12:39.820,0:12:46.560
cannon only supported Mac operating
0:12:42.730,0:12:49.360
system 10.10 or newer which is Yosemite
0:12:46.560,0:12:51.160
so you could kind of try to skip I did
0:12:49.360,0:12:52.810
that before I mean it’s on my youtube
0:12:51.160,0:12:57.700
channel I made a long video I think it
0:12:52.810,0:13:03.010
was I think I upgraded Mavericks to High
0:12:57.700,0:13:06.030
Sierra but I had to install you’ll see
0:13:03.010,0:13:06.030
me first or something like that
0:13:12.459,0:13:19.519
you can verify the upgrade by going to
0:13:15.529,0:13:21.440
the Apple icon on the top menu click the
0:13:19.519,0:13:23.570
Apple icon logo whatever you want to
0:13:21.440,0:13:25.579
call it and then select about this Mac
0:13:23.570,0:13:27.139
and that will tell you what version of
0:13:25.579,0:13:28.940
Macintosh operating system you are
0:13:27.139,0:13:30.470
running so that’s a quick tip if you do
0:13:28.940,0:13:35.389
not know what version of Mac operating
0:13:30.470,0:13:38.930
system you are using click on the Mac
0:13:35.389,0:13:44.000
icon select about this Mac and that’ll
0:13:38.930,0:13:46.190
tell you 10.10 make sure that I don’t
0:13:44.000,0:13:48.949
think Macintosh on the newer Macintosh
0:13:46.190,0:13:52.970
operating systems they don’t support
0:13:48.949,0:13:55.790
32-bit anymore so mmm there’s another
0:13:52.970,0:13:58.970
way you can go into the system profiler
0:13:55.790,0:14:03.829
you go to a hit the Mac go to about this
0:13:58.970,0:14:05.630
Mac click on system report on the left
0:14:03.829,0:14:08.060
hand side scroll down until you see
0:14:05.630,0:14:13.100
software click software to expand it and
0:14:08.060,0:14:18.079
then look for 64-bit it’s on its its
0:14:13.100,0:14:21.050
64-bit there’s a there’s a option there
0:14:18.079,0:14:23.779
for 64-bit kernel if it says yes your
0:14:21.050,0:14:27.199
Mac already support 64-bit so if says no
0:14:23.779,0:14:29.290
it does not so that’s a quick tip we
0:14:27.199,0:14:32.899
have in case you run into that roadblock
0:14:29.290,0:14:38.120
any other tips before my gold tip here’s
0:14:32.899,0:14:41.029
my gold tip once you successfully
0:14:38.120,0:14:43.910
upgrade your Mac and you’ve used the
0:14:41.029,0:14:47.060
your Apple ID and obviously you went to
0:14:43.910,0:14:49.899
the Apple store well it’s when you
0:14:47.060,0:14:53.060
download that Mac upgrade whether it’s
0:14:49.899,0:14:54.949
Yosemite El Capitan Sierra hi Sierra I
0:14:53.060,0:14:57.410
don’t see too many people upgrading to
0:14:54.949,0:14:59.180
Sierra I don’t know if that was if Apple
0:14:57.410,0:15:01.670
has intentionally blocked people but
0:14:59.180,0:15:04.899
usually most of my customers I help
0:15:01.670,0:15:09.860
they will upgrade to El Capitan which is
0:15:04.899,0:15:12.439
10.11 or High Sierra which is 10.13 I’m
0:15:09.860,0:15:15.319
not sure why that is once you
0:15:12.439,0:15:17.620
successfully download a newer version of
0:15:15.319,0:15:22.730
the Mac operating system El Capitan
0:15:17.620,0:15:24.889
Yosemite Sierra High Sierra then and
0:15:22.730,0:15:25.670
then you successfully upgrade to that
0:15:24.889,0:15:27.770
Mac
0:15:25.670,0:15:30.560
you know it you hit restart it rebooted
0:15:27.770,0:15:33.560
no problems you verified about the smack
0:15:30.560,0:15:35.390
BAM it will automatically show up in
0:15:33.560,0:15:36.770
your purchases tab I have fucking no
0:15:35.390,0:15:38.870
idea what that is because you didn’t
0:15:36.770,0:15:41.390
purchase anything because Mac upgrades
0:15:38.870,0:15:45.020
are free upgrading the different
0:15:41.390,0:15:47.710
versions of Mac for now is free so here
0:15:45.020,0:15:50.900
that’s a tip let’s say you have to
0:15:47.710,0:15:54.620
reimage that Mac the hard drive fails
0:15:50.900,0:15:58.490
and what you can do is you can use your
0:15:54.620,0:15:59.780
Apple Store to upgrade it from a
0:15:58.490,0:16:01.790
different one you might you might have
0:15:59.780,0:16:03.350
to go and install the original Mac
0:16:01.790,0:16:06.590
operating system that came with that
0:16:03.350,0:16:09.380
computer and then but if you go to your
0:16:06.590,0:16:11.900
the purchases tab in the Apple Store any
0:16:09.380,0:16:13.430
newer Mac operating systems that you
0:16:11.900,0:16:15.950
successfully downloaded and installed
0:16:13.430,0:16:18.020
will will show up now you’ll have to
0:16:15.950,0:16:21.140
redownload them so and there will be a
0:16:18.020,0:16:23.540
download button look look under
0:16:21.140,0:16:24.890
purchases it’ll tell you Oh al Capitan
0:16:23.540,0:16:26.930
and then there should be a download
0:16:24.890,0:16:28.910
button on the right-hand side you just
0:16:26.930,0:16:31.010
click download you have to redownload it
0:16:28.910,0:16:32.450
and go through these instructions and
0:16:31.010,0:16:34.850
reinstall but that can save you a lot of
0:16:32.450,0:16:36.740
time you don’t have to fuck around you
0:16:34.850,0:16:39.950
know going to web links or opening up
0:16:36.740,0:16:44.360
iTunes or you just click purchases BAM
0:16:39.950,0:16:47.060
download BAM enter in your Mac
0:16:44.360,0:16:48.710
administrator password BAM select the
0:16:47.060,0:16:52.070
hard drive source or excuse me
0:16:48.710,0:16:54.530
destination BAM click restart BAM you
0:16:52.070,0:16:55.850
just upgrade your Mac so that’s my gold
0:16:54.530,0:17:00.350
tip because it can save you a lot of
0:16:55.850,0:17:03.050
time and then each operating system that
0:17:00.350,0:17:06.200
you’ve upgraded to so each new operating
0:17:03.050,0:17:07.970
system that you upgrade to you just go
0:17:06.200,0:17:09.620
to the purchases tab and you can really
0:17:07.970,0:17:11.480
you know download and reinstall those
0:17:09.620,0:17:14.360
and like I you can like I said it can
0:17:11.480,0:17:16.160
save you time hard drive failure your
0:17:14.360,0:17:17.660
Mac is all fucked up now it’s not
0:17:16.160,0:17:21.500
working right or whatever or as a
0:17:17.660,0:17:23.960
technician you know it keeps a history
0:17:21.500,0:17:29.330
of your operating system upgrades on
0:17:23.960,0:17:31.400
Macintosh in the purchases tab so
0:17:29.330,0:17:33.970
hopefully these instructions were
0:17:31.400,0:17:39.020
sufficient for you to upgrade your Mac
0:17:33.970,0:17:48.020
from 10 9.5 which is Mavericks to 10.10
0:17:39.020,0:17:50.720
which is yosemite and and as always good
0:17:48.020,0:17:53.240
luck you’re gonna need it
0:17:50.720,0:17:55.790
check click on the link in the
0:17:53.240,0:17:57.590
description box below in this video for
0:17:55.790,0:18:00.280
instructions on how to upgrade your mat
0:17:57.590,0:18:04.190
from Mavericks to Yosemite uh deals or
0:18:00.280,0:18:07.090
evil or even higher even to High Sierra
0:18:04.190,0:18:07.090
adios
