Another computer problem with Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. Here is the original question on this third party website where I earn supplemental income answering computer related questions.
“I have an Acer foot wide laptop with Windows 10 on it. Something has gone really wrong in that it won’t boot. All I get is “your PC did not start correctly,” it then goes to “auto repair” (restarts it) and the same thing happens.
I’ve tried looking around in Advanced Options, but I’m afraid I’ll kill it all the way :). What can I do? I would at least like to use it to get on line…Help.
This individual owned an Acer Aspire 1551. laptop computer with Windows 7 operating system installed originally. I do NOT know if they upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10. You may want to perform a fresh install of Windows 10 rather than performing an upgrade.
This individual was given two options. Continue Troubleshoot or Turn off your PC. They choose troubleshoot and were given further options.
Reset this PC or Advanced options. When selecting Advanced Options they were given these options. System Restore, System Image, Startup Repair, Command Prompt, Startup Settings, and Go back to the previous build.
From my experiences Startup Repair very rarely fixes any issue. However, you can attempt to repair your system by just performing a system restore. Choose a restore point back before you were having this problem.
Often times System Restore will not work if Windows will not boot. It just depends on your situation. If system restore fails then, try a “Reset this PC” instead.
You will have two choices. One will remove all data and applications. The other one will save your data but will remove all applications. Reset your PC to fix your problem.
This individual ran a Reset This PC. However, they interrupted the reset as the hard drive light was still flickering. Once they interrupted the reset this PC, they were no longer able to run it again.
This is my gold tip of this blog post. DO NOT INTERRUPT a system restore and or a Reset This PC when it is running. These processes can take hours and even possibly days, if the file system is corrupt, failing hard drive, etc.
If a Reset PC fails, then you can boot into Last Known Good Configuration, Safe Mode, Safe Mode With Command Prompt, or Safe Mode With Networking. Last known good configuration will try to boot into Windows with the last known good configuration that was successful. If that does not fix your problem, then you can run some scans in safe mode.
You want to run malware, spyware, virus, system file check, and check disk scans. Type the following command into a command prompt windows.
sfc /scannow
Do NOT interrupt this scan. I would run this scan three times, as I have noticed better results running a system file check scan multiple times. Also, type the following into a command prompt window.
chkdsk c: /f /r
This is a comprehensive check disk scan with 5 major stages. Do NOT interrupt this scan. After it is completed it will notify you. Restart your computer and see if both of these scans fixed your problem. If you still have problems, perform malware, spyware, and virus scans.
Microsoft Windows 10 includes a free already installed malware, spyware, and virus scanner called Windows Defender. Run a full scan. If for some reason Windows Defender will not work, then boot into safe mode with networking.
Download a malware and spyware tool. Also, download a antivirus tool. I use Emsisoft Emergency Kit, and Superantispyware.
Also, I use Avast and AVG free antivirus. All of these tools have free versions that you can use. Finally, when in doubt, take your computer to a computer repair business.
At the very least they will try to recover your important data. A best case scenario is that they will be able to fix your PC did not start correctly Windows 10 problem. If necessary, they will reinstall Microsoft Windows 10.
You would have to restore your important data and reinstall all of your software applications. If you are technology capable you could reinstall Windows 10 operating system after recovering any important data.
