Brave Web Browser - View Crypto Domains Configuration

Another information technology problem, in the world order. This time I was unable to view any .crypto domains with Brave web browser. However, Brave Publishers claim that their web browser has native support for viewing .crypto domains.

I could not view any .crypto domains with version 1.32.106 and earlier Brave web browser versions. I performed some Internet searching and found a solution. You want to click on the three line menu icon at the top right.

Now you want to choose "Settings". On the left hand side "Settings" menu choose "Privacy and security". On your right hand side, scroll down and choose "Security".

Now select "Choose secure DNS". You will want to turn the toggle switch so that this feature is turned on. This will allow you to configure a secure domain name system custom provider.

Change the radio button selection from "With your current service provider" to "With Custom". Now in the box labeled "Enter custom provider" type in or copy and paste:

https://resolver.unstoppable.io/dns-query

You are finished configuring a custom secure domain name system resolver. Brave web browser settings does not have a save feature. Your settings are automatically saved.

Also, you could choose the first choice "With your current service provider". However, your current Internet service provider may not support crypto domains. Also, you may not be able to view .crypto domains with your current service provider at all times.

You can now close the Settings tab. You can visit any .crypto domain that has a live website. Also, you can click on "Open using IPFS" button in the top uniform resource locator address bar.

You can type in .crypto domain addresses like this example below. Also, you can try to view them as hyper text transfer protocol, hyper text transfer protocol secure, and inter planetary file system websites. Inter planetary file system domains may resolve to inter planetary name system instead.

http://vault74.crypto

https://vault74.crypto

ipfs://vault7.crypto

Http stands for hyper text transfer protocol. Https stands for hyper text transfer protocol secure. Ipfs stands for inter planetary file system.

Inter planetary file system is a block chain file system. Ipns stands for inter planetary name system, which also uses block chain technology.

Brave Web Browser View Crypto Domains Configuration - Video Transcript

00:11

brave web browser they claim that they

00:13

have native support for viewing dot

00:15

crypto domains however i couldn't

00:20

get it to work in this web browser now

00:22

i'm using mx linux which is a debian

00:26

derivation distribution perhaps that's

00:29

the problem and also it's an older

00:31

version

00:33

on linux anyways i don't want to digress

00:35

too much

00:37

it just does not work if you see it on

00:38

screen this this is a real crypto domain

00:42

that actually works

00:43

if you refresh it it gets a dns error

00:47

well i performed some searching and i

00:50

found a solution for now they claim that

00:52

they have built-in native support for

00:55

you know ipfs which is the file system

00:59

that crypto domains use and

01:02

for

01:03

even typing in http

01:05

and then the

01:08

crypto domain name

01:10

it doesn't work

01:12

so you click the three drop down arrows

01:14

in brave which is the menu then you

01:16

click on settings now once you enter

01:19

settings

01:20

then you want to click on privacy and

01:22

security on the left hand side

01:25

then scroll down to security click on

01:28

security

01:29

and then

01:30

choose

01:32

use secure dns you have to turn it on

01:35

and then you'll be able to choose custom

01:38

now you want to select custom so to

01:40

change your radio button from

01:43

with your current

01:44

service provider to custom

01:47

um i think this is the i could be wrong

01:49

but i think

01:50

well i don't know for a fact this might

01:52

be the only public

01:54

crypto

01:56

you know domain name service available

01:58

in the future if

02:00

these become popular enough maybe your

02:02

[Music]

02:04

current

02:05

domain name provider

02:08

domain name service provider may provide

02:11

service for crypto domains i don't know

02:14

so you choose make sure with custom is

02:16

selected you notice there's other

02:18

options but you don't want to with

02:20

the other ones not at least not for now

02:23

and then now this is what you want to

02:25

enter in i'm going to just copy and

02:27

paste it

02:28

it is https so that s is for secure

02:32

hyper text transfer protocol secure

02:36

colon four slash forceless resolver

02:39

dot unstoppable dot io

02:42

slash dns dash query so

02:46

now this is for secure dns

02:49

your your regular website should work

02:53

google i don't know google microsoft i

02:56

don't know why you'd be browsing

02:57

microcrap microship microslop windows

03:00

official website but you know

03:03

all of that should work facebook if it

03:05

doesn't work

03:06

it works in my browser

03:08

you know i'm saying if for whatever

03:10

reason it does not work just disable

03:12

your security yes you might want to

03:14

leave the settings alone so just in case

03:16

you toggle it back on it could be months

03:18

from now you decide you want to browse

03:21

crypto domains and you forgot the

03:24

correct settings

03:25

so

03:26

instead of using

03:28

your internet service provider or google

03:31

or open what is it there's open dns

03:35

it's going to use

03:37

resolver.unstoppable.io

03:40

for dns queries for so that you can view

03:43

that crypto

03:44

now so i'm going to

03:46

it's enabled i should be able to just

03:49

refresh

03:50

and it it'll load it takes a little bit

03:53

of time and it should load it so it and

03:56

this website's kind of i don't well i

03:57

don't know if it's slow slow it could be

03:59

ipfs

04:00

which is not hypertext transfer protocol

04:03

it's a different type of a file sharing

04:08

it uses actually blockchain i don't know

04:11

if every website isn't slow i have

04:13

decent internet where i'm located at

04:15

it's not you know

04:18

fiber

04:19

you know what i'm saying

04:21

it'll load

04:22

now if you notice up in there i think

04:24

you might be able to see this i think

04:25

the screen capturing program i'm using

04:28

should

04:30

be viewable

04:32

open using ipfs

04:37

well we'll click on that because

04:40

oh

04:41

i don't want to waste any more time

04:43

so that's going to try to load it in

04:45

ipfs i think this loaded now yeah there

04:48

it is okay so vault 74 that's a real

04:52

dot crypto it uses the blockchain it

04:55

uses ipfs i think i could be wrong but i

04:58

think ipfs is like

05:00

the only or one of the few blockchain

05:04

website type file systems you can

05:07

actually

05:10

share

05:12

a website you can

05:13

you know maintain a website using ipfs

05:17

instead of http

05:19

you know what i'm saying hypertext

05:21

transfer protocol

05:26

i am not affiliated with this website i

05:28

don't even know if they have an

05:29

affiliate program i'm not endorsing them

05:32

i just

05:33

i'll be honest i couldn't find

05:36

that many websites that are

05:38

that are dot crypto i couldn't

05:41

yeah i've i've visited a few

05:44

but i didn't bookmark that the articles

05:47

and i i had a difficulty

05:50

time trying to even find any of that

05:52

crypto websites

05:54

i finally found

05:56

anyway some website that mentioned this

05:57

one

05:59

there were like 10 and none of them

06:00

worked

06:02

and this one worked i was like oh

06:04

finally so fall74.crypto

06:08

and now i don't think

06:10

i

06:12

if you notice

06:15

ipns

06:18

so you can

06:20

use ipns and i think you can also type

06:23

in ipfs we can test that and then i'm

06:26

almost

06:27

complete with this video i will be

06:30

writing a full length blog post

06:33

no

06:34

ipfs

06:37

i'm not sure it doesn't open that but

06:39

ipns i'm not an expert i'll be honest i

06:42

know the basics i i do know that

06:45

ipfs

06:46

is a file system that uses blockchain

06:49

and it allows you to

06:51

host websites now

06:54

here's a quick example

06:56

you have your wallet

06:58

well goddammit aaron what's in your

07:00

wallet aaron it's empty aaron wow aaron

07:03

you're not rich no wonder why you don't

07:06

get any dates aaron because those gold

07:08

digging feminist feminazi excuse me arn

07:14

that's about how terrible it is in

07:15

america with these

07:17

females man

07:19

anyways

07:20

they don't like fools gold

07:22

you know what i'm saying all right

07:25

you have a blockchain wallet whether

07:28

it's a bitcoin or ethereum which is

07:31

basically does i think ethereum does

07:34

have a separate token whatever

07:36

it has to be a wallet okay it has to be

07:39

a bit a blockchain wallet

07:42

whether it's

07:45

bitcoin or what are some other wallets

07:49

i have whatever the wallet is the

07:52

cryptocurrency wallet

07:54

it's just an abstract address well it's

07:57

a very lengthy number and letters and

08:00

all that crap

08:02

well

08:03

that to me is terrible marketing if you

08:05

give somebody your real

08:08

wallet

08:09

it's lengthy

08:10

they're probably never going to remember

08:12

it they're probably never going to want

08:13

to remember it even if you included it

08:15

in email

08:17

or a text or a chat or you yell it at

08:21

them or you

08:23

advertise it on some billboard they're

08:25

not going to probably care

08:28

they'll probably like you know leave

08:31

your website or they'll be like huh i

08:33

don't have to type that in all the time

08:35

well what you do is you create a crypto

08:39

you you from unstoppable i don't know if

08:41

there are any other

08:43

crypto domain providers i just i'm not

08:45

an expert

08:47

you would obtain a crypto domain and

08:49

then what you do

08:51

is

08:52

you forward

08:54

the

08:55

address

08:56

so that they only have to type in this

08:59

is just an example obviously it's not

09:01

going to work but you would type in well

09:03

i'll just say ain't computers.crypto

09:06

that's not a real live website

09:08

in it computers.crypto would actually

09:11

forward so that you could pay me in

09:14

bitcoin or whatever so that's where

09:16

there there's an advantage for now

09:18

and there are other uses you can build

09:21

websites this is a real website that is

09:24

not using hypertext transfer protocol

09:27

it's not a static html website coded

09:29

only in html and it's obviously not a

09:32

wordpress i don't know why it took a

09:34

while to load i just don't know enough

09:37

you know it could be the file system it

09:39

could be who knows but it works

09:42

all right

09:44

i will include a link in the description

09:47

of this youtube video that will take you

09:48

to my website and at computers.crypto i

09:50

mean

09:52

yeah i dare you to you know surf the

09:54

anet computers.crypto there's nothing

09:57

there

09:57

i have thought about

09:59

starting a crypto website i'm just not

10:02

sure yet if it's even worth the time but

10:04

maybe oh another caveat

10:06

i don't know if it's true

10:08

allegedly they claim one break another

10:11

breaking point is that supposedly

10:13

governments cannot censor you if you

10:16

have a dot crypto domain

10:19

supposedly they cannot they cannot

10:22

submit a cease and desist although i

10:24

think i think unstoppable domains are

10:26

the only

10:28

domain name service provider that will

10:30

sell dot crypto so i'm not sure how that

10:33

works

10:34

governments are crooked

10:37

basically governments are like terrorist

10:39

organizations

10:41

they don't give a

10:43

i think they a government could

10:46

unstoppable domains

10:48

you know how the fbi is in america the

10:50

federal bureau of insurgency i mean

10:53

i mean seriously

10:55

i don't know but

10:57

supposedly technically they cannot

11:00

censor you they

11:02

i don't know if that's true i don't know

11:03

if that's going to be true in the future

11:05

that's one selling point

11:09

my blog post i will try to

11:11

include detailed instructions now there

11:13

are some other web browsers that

11:17

i

11:18

did i try i think i tested mozilla and i

11:20

could not

11:22

now brave claims that they have native

11:24

support but no i i showed you i proved

11:27

to you at the beginning of this video

11:28

that no

11:29

i may or may not record other videos

11:32

helping people

11:35

configure their web browsers so that

11:36

they can properly and successfully view

11:39

these dot crypto

11:41

blockchain ipfs domains i'm i might not

11:45

but my blog post will have full

11:46

instructions and i will include all the

11:49

details especially the resolver that's

11:51

the most important

11:52

piece you know it's all important

11:55

adios
